To further the movie experience with enhanced illusion of depth perception; the Princess Fun City Entertainment Centre has introduced two 3D (three-dimensional) Digital Movie Theaters in Guyana.
These were officially launched as part of the entertainment complex’s first anniversary celebrations on Friday at the hotel, Providence East Bank Demerara. In attendance were Minister of Tourism Irfaan Ali; acting Police Commissioner Seelall Persaud; former President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Clinton Urling; and special invitees.
“Our 3D Theaters, the first of their kind in Guyana offer family fun and entertainment each with the seating capacity for 93 patrons. With ten shows every day, each week we provide the latest releases in Hollywood, Children and Bollywood movies,” Executive Assistant of Princess Casino Natalie Seecharan explained.
She said that in an ever changing world where technology keeps improving, the movie studios are phasing out the 35mm reels and introducing 2D and 3D Digital Theaters. More than 90 per cent of cinemas around the world have converted to digital. Movie goers can now enjoy a more vivid screen, brighter color projection with life-like images.
Princess Fun City Entertainment Centre aims to provide family fun entertainment by delivering the ultimate movie experience that would last a lifetime. Guyanese can now have the same opportunity as the rest of the world in advance technology.
The two state-of-the-art movie theaters comprise a 22×10 foot screen with Dolby Stereo surround sound and comfortable airline seats.
Move over, the 3D cinema is simply the icing on the cake in addition to their 7D Theater which is simply spectacular at Princess Hotel. For this section the line between reel and real will be very thin in the cinema that has a modest six seat capacity that promises to give more than a touch of reality.
In the 7D cinema patrons can be prepared to feel the ground beneath them shake with every thumping stride of a T-Rex, feel the splatter of rain on their face as they run through a rainforest and try hard to look through the fog that clouds their vision. Yes people, 7D lets you become part of the movie instead of watching it inactively.
The cinema is open every day from 13:00hrs until the last show at 21:30hrs. Prices are $2,000 and children $1,500 respectively per show. The Princess Hotel and Casino is being rebranded under international hotel chain Ramada and its management plans on investing over US$5M on renovations as it aims to attract more international travelers into Guyana for tourism and business.
The hotel, which will be renamed Ramada Georgetown Princess, expects to gain its investment back in approximately five years.
