– Sparta Boss in line to defend title
Ansa McAl’s Mackeson ‘Keep Your Five Alive’ Futsal Tournament which is in its fourth year will commence this evening, at California Square, East Ruimveldt from 20:00hrs.
Thirty-two (32) teams will battle for over $500,000 in cash and prizes with Sparta Boss being the defending champions and according to Tournament’s Co-ordinator Kevin Adonis, teams will have to be focused and fit from the start of competition since it will be played on a knockout basis.
Adonis added that teams from Georgetown, the traditional home for most of the champions in the Futsal format, can expect a strong challenge from those outside of the Capital City.
“This year, I have decided to include teams such as Victoria, Vryheid’s Lust, Plaisance, Beterverwagting, Melanie and Parfaite Harmonie, just to name a few, in the line-up and as you are aware, some of the East Coast based teams are coming off the back of a similar tournament. This means they will be fit and could therefore present a strong challenge to the other teams, so I am urging the teams to be fit in order to “Keep Your Five Alive”, Adonis said.
Teams are asked to note carefully, that only those who have been registered on the registration form will be allowed to compete, with no alterations being allowed during the course of the tournament, only in the case of injury which must occur during the playing of the competition.
“In addition to the tournament, there will be an Axe half time show compliments of that product’s main distributor in Guyana, DeSinco Trading, which is being dubbed the ‘Take and Shoot’ competition, for which fabulous prizes will be up for grabs, along with the regular Mackeson giveaways,” Adonis disclosed.
Apart from Ansa McAl and DeSinco Trading some of the other sponsors of the tournament which has six playing days are Colors Boutique, Clairan’s Boutique, Clear Water, Star Party Rental, White Castle Fish Shop, and HJTV and its 94.1 Boom FM.
The action returns to the same venue the following night, while Albouystown will host next Saturday night’s play with the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall tarmac slated as the venue for the next three playing days which are the 7th, 14th and 21st June respectively.
