Two more teams scored victories when play continued with a double header on Tuesday in the annual Trinidad and Guyana Sports Club and Outreach Programme (TGSCOP) U-13 Inter Secondary School football competition being played in the NA/Canje district. The competition which is in its fifth year is being held in collaboration with the Hearts of Oak Masters Football club. All matches are being played at the All Saints Scott Church Ground in New Amsterdam.
Results of the games played show – Berbice Educational Institute (BEI) blanking Canje Secondary School 3-0 with Dwayne Alleyne hitting home a double and Troy Munroe scoring one.
The next scheduled encounter saw Tutorial Academy Secondary School (TASS) gaining a walk over from New Amsterdam Multilateral Secondary (NAMS).
The semi-finals were set for yesterday with BEI taking on TASS in the first match. The second semi will bring together Berbice High School (BHS) and Vryman’s Erven Secondary (VESS). The final and third place play off are set for tomorrow.
The top school will receive the Trinidad and Guyana (T&G) Sports Club and Outreach Programme trophy and 15 gold medals, while the runner up will collect a trophy and 15 silver medals. Trophies and other incentives will also be given to the other participating teams. A number of individual prizes will also be presented including the most valuable player, best striker, best defender, best midfielder, best goal keeper, most promising player(s), and most goal scorer. Players will also be presented with jerseys, trunks, shin pads, hoses, boots, balls among other things.
The competition is sponsored by Isaac Daniel a resident of Trinidad and a regular visitor of Guyana who started to organize the activities some 10 years ago.
