A matter in the Supreme Court before the Honourable Madam Justice Sandra Kurtzious (in chambers) yesterday, Plaintiffs; Keith Foster, Anil Beharry, Hubern Evans, Julian Cambridge, Angela Haniff, Raymond Haniff, Romash Munna and Shabeer Baksh were granted an injunction restraining Defendants: Dru Bahadur, Fizul Bacchus, Alfred Mentore, Anand Sanasie, Virendra Chintamanie, Anand Kalladeen, Rajesh Singh, Rajendra Singh, Colin Europe, Andy Ramnarine, Lalta Digamber, Ramdeo Kumar, Rayon Griffith, Nazimul Drepaul and Savitri Persaud from acting as agents of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB).
The Ex-parte Application by way of Affidavit for Angela Haniff was filed on the 22nd day of March, 2013, while Anand Sanasie filed an Affidavit on the 11th day of July, 2013 in response, with Haniff responding on the 27th day of January, 2014, was heard by Justice Kurtzious, who ruled that the above mentioned Defendants… ‘by themselves their servants and or agents acting collectively or individually or howsoever, be restrained and an injunction be and is hereby granted restraining the defendants…from holding themselves out as the office holders and/or representatives of the Guyana Cricket Board or from performing any act or function for and on behalf of the said Guyana Cricket Board or from discharging in any manner whatsoever any of the duties and or obligations of the Guyana Cricket Board until the hearing and determination of the action…’
They have been also injuncted…‘from holding themselves out as representatives of the West Indies Cricket Board until the hearing and determination of the action herein and it is further ordered that this matter do take its normal course.’
A stay of execution of this ruling has however been granted for the defendants to file an appeal.
The latest matter is one of several attracting the attention of the Courts as the power struggle among the various factions for control of the GCB continues.
