-performs outstandingly in Suriname
Middle and long distance athlete Alika Morgan displayed an act of goodwill recently when she presented a pair of track shoes and uniform to young athlete Maria Urquhart, who participated at the Hampton Games in Trinidad and Tobago over the weekend.
This is not the first time that Morgan has assisted young athletes and according to her Coach Leslie Black, the middle and long distance star has been giving back to the sport and the society at large over the years.
Morgan is the only athlete to have won 3 gold medals at a single Athletic Meet, a feat she achieved at the 2009 Hampton Games.
Additionally, she has been outstanding at the Carifta Games winning 5 medals, the Caricom Road Race 4 times, Caribbean 10k in Barbados 5 times, while also producing excellent performances in the USA and other parts of the Caribbean.
During the presentation ceremony, Morgan issued a call to other senior athletes and members of the business community to assist young athletes.
She said it could go a far way in fostering their development and showcasing their talent.
Morgan, who has received consistent support from GT&T, extended thanks to the Company, while also offering similar sentiments to Trans Guyana Air Services.
Meanwhile, Morgan recently participated in the Telesur 10K Road Race in Nickerie where she placed first in the Open category and second overall.
This followed similar returns during the first leg of the same event which was staged in Paramaribo, Suriname earlier in the month.
