DEAR EDITOR,
We have all browsed the media ads on academic opportunity as guides to the current requirements for jobs and the possibility for higher Education. I have never before read an ad that stipulated that the criteria for participation resides in the applicants ethnicity – that is until Thursday May 15, 2014 in both of the leading Independent Newspapers. This ad was placed by the local arm of the Indian Government in Guyana.
This raises the question of the psychological perception of sovereign identity of the recipients and more specifically the host country, and holds several considerations to question.
Had any ad preceded this in the same vein from another nation, then that nation should also be held in similar scrutiny.
The Indian High Commission must understand that India stands out as the host nation of the origins of the infamous Bramanic Aryan cult with its bizarre ideologies of racist oppression. Though in India serious domestic resistances to this three thousand-year practice are ongoing and are commendable, yet, its vestiges remain rooted over there, and have troubled this country’s modern history significantly for too long – thus the need for the attention given through this letter. It does demonstrate though, that what is the other normalcy in that venue signals the aware to pause and to question.
