Member of the Guyana and West Indies Fullbore Shooting team, USA based Sigmund Douglas donated the Amazon Trophy to the top female shooter of the just concluded West Indies Fullbore Shooting Championships (WIFSC) held at the
Twickenham Ranges, Jamaica.
Karen Anderson of Jamaica was presented with the trophy by Douglas during the WIFSC presentation ceremony in Jamaica.
The Guyanese marksman noted that while he has been donating trophies since 1992, the idea behind the female trophy came from him competing at Bisely in England.
“At Bisley there are many trophies that only female shooters can win so I said we need to have one in the West Indies to encourage and recognize our female shooters.”
Among the other trophies that Douglas has donated is the Grand Aggregate for Guyana Nationals and the Over-50.
He is planning to donate a few more; V Bull, Challenge Cup, Magpie and the Tyro trophy (for beginners) and this will be in time for the 2017 championships which will be hosted in Guyana. Trinidad and Tobago will host next year.
