Horseracing is set to continue on Sunday 25th May when the Port Mourant Turf in collaboration with Jumbo Jet Auto Sales and Racing stable stages a grand one day meet at the club’s entity Port Mourant, Corentyne Berbice.
Seven races are set for the day with over $6 M in cash, trophies and other incentives up for grabs. The feature event will be for horses classified D3 and Lower over 1500M for a hefty winners money of $1M and trophy.
The race for Three-Year-Old Guyana and West Indies bred horses has a winning pocket of $600,000 and is over 1200 M. There is a race for Four-Year-old animals bred and born in Guyana and the West Indies also over 1500 M for a top prize of $500,000.
The horses classified G3 and lower will be racing for a first prize of $400,000 over 1000 M.
Animals classified H1 and Lower have at stake a top prize of $300,000, to aim for in another 1000 M clash. The ‘I 1’ and Lower race is a 1000 M event and will see the winner taking home a winning stake of $250,000.
The final event is for animals classified J and Lower over 1000 M for a winning take of $200,000. All the winners will also receive trophies.
The race will be run under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority (GHRA).
There are also stating that five horses must start a race before third prizes will be paid and that
Seven horses must start before any fourth prize will be paid.
Entries were expected to be closed yesterday and no late entries will be accepted.
