With all the necessary changes finalized all roads lead to the Kennard Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) today for that entity’s annual Pre-Independence one day horserace meet at Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne Berbice.
The club, which is known for its excellent facilities, is in the best of conditions at the moment and a grand day of racing is anticipated. With some changes made to the day’s programme, six races are still on the day’s card which will see some 60 horses taking part and prize monies totaling close to $4M up for grabs.
The feature event is for animals classified D 1and lower over one mile for the $500,000 first prize and trophy. Among those expected to take part are Treacle, Fresh Again, Run Nana Run, California Strike, Some Legend, Red and Lovely, Work Force, Young Elite, City Tune and Quiet Stormy.
The G1 and lower has horses such as Quiet Strom, Wild Grinder, Princess Page, Another Jet, Bridal Stone Corner, Work Force, Flying Baby, Cat Messiah, Silent Night, Rock Sonia, Red Cloud and I Get another competing for the $300,000 and trophy over 6F.
The other animals entered for the I and J class races are – Iron man, Mary Ann, Bunny Signs, Triple, Key for the Killer, Swift Way, Nobre Import, Royal Cash, Little, Funny Side, Famous Pride, Party Time, Prince Bayaya, Speed Vision, lady Secret, Smarty Light, Royal Intention, Windy Killer and De Gump, Apostle and Dance For Gold, Dynamite, Sugar Boy prince Stallion Cyrus Famous Pride, Pick Pocket, Famous Pride, Little Star, The road is Mine, Sunny Silence, Willie Up Town and Flying baby.
The race for the ‘I’ class animals carries a winning purse of $250,000 and trophy over 7 furlongs.
The event for J1 and lower horse has a winning take of $200,000 and trophy.
The J3 handicap event is for a winner’s money of $150,000 and trophy over 6 furlongs.
The final event on the day is for animals classified J3 and lower with a winning purse of $150,000 and trophy.
The outstanding jockeys, trainer and stable will all received trophies and other accolades compliments of Ramesh Sunich of Trophy Stall, Bourda Market and the organisers.
