Play in the Memorex Enterprise Under-17 cricket competition in Berbice commenced recently with two outstanding bowling performances. Adim Shoetyal snapped up 6-30 to help Cotton Tree Die Hard restrict Blairmont Community Centre to 169 in their first
innings.
Blairmont’s Under-15 pacer Ramnareshwar Samwaru took 4-19 from 9 overs to help bowl out Cotton Tree for 51 in their first innings. When Cotton Tree followed on, Samwaru bagged 6-3 from 7 overs to end with match figures of 10-22 from 16 overs engineering Cotton Tree’s second innings total of a mere 11 all out. Samwaru was supported by off-spinner Seon Glasgow who took 4-2 from 5 overs.
Port Mourant declared their first innings against Sand Reef Twilight at 166-2; Haresh Jaipaul slammed an unbeaten 65 and Daniel Samaroo hit 59*, the two featuring in a 130 run 3rd wicket partnership.
When Sand Reef replied, leg-spinner Vivek Jagjit collected 5-17 from 6 overs and 5-30 from 8.1 overs to bowl out Sand Reef for 61 and 62; Jagjit ended the match with figures of 10-47 from 14.1 overs.
Guyana Under-17 batsman Brandon Prasad hit 52, Azam Khan 51 and Joshua Gobin 42* to steer Rose Hall Town Bakewell to 233-6 declared against Cheskoy Riders. Gobin, with his off-spin took 5-6 from 4 overs as Cheskoy were bowled out for 52 in their first innings. Second time around, left arm spinner Keith Simpson snapped up 5-16 from 9.4 overs to send Cheskoy Riders packing for 102.
Pacer Raymond Van Keric and left arm spinner Steffon Anderson had 7 wicket match hauls for Police in their victory over Rose Hall Community Centre.
