NDC, Regal SCC T/20 cricket-Wakenaam …Osborne, Rambarran guide Sans Souci to title
Wayne Osborne smashed a half century and off spinner Devon Rambarran grabbed 5-10 of 3.4 overs to guide Sans Souci to a 33- run victory over Zeelandia in the final of the Wakenaam Neighbourhood Democratic Council (WNDC)/ Regal Stationery and Computer Centre T\20 tournament on Sunday last.

Osborne slammed five sixes in scoring 53 and got support from Tulsieram Ramadeen with 31 as Sans Souci reached 141-8 off their 20 overs, batting first at the Wakenaam Community Centre ground. Darmendra Pooran claimed 2-17 while Ricardo Adams and Hemraj Seeraj had one each. Zeelandia were bowled out for 108 in 15.4 overs in reply. Adams scored 37 (4×6) and Devendra Jadukul 24. Rambarran was named man of the match.
Meanwhile, in the semi-finals played on Thursday last, Zeelandia crushed Maria’s Pleasure by nine wickets. Playing at Zeelandia, the visitors managed 130 all out in 19.5 overs. Bernard Lewis and Kennard Lewis scored 35 each and Lionel Baker chipped in with 20. Seeraj captured 4-30 and Hemraj Pooran 3-25. The home team responded with 125-9 in 20 overs with Adams scoring 86 (8×6).
At the Wakenaam Community Centre ground, Sans Souci overcame Sans Souci Jaguars by eight runs. Sans Souci scored 125-9 off their reduced 18 overs. Gurnauth Khemraj made 40 and Heera Sukram 23. Zameer Zaman snared 3-13, Siddiq Mohamed 3-15 and Olwyn Paton 2-25. The Jaguars were restricted for 117-8 in 18 overs in reply. Paton stroked 62 as Seon Venture picked up 4-17 and Satnarine Sahadeo 3-14.
Osborne collected the best batsman prize with 233 runs and Rambarran the most outstanding bowler accolade with 10 scalps. Both finalists received trophies for their efforts. Speaking at the presentation ceremony, chairman of the WNDC Ahmad Zakir Khan lauded the Wakenaam Cricket Committee (WCC) adding that the tournament was well organsied and promised their continued support.
Secretary of the WCC Nazeer Mohamed thanked the NDC and Regal Stationery and Computer Centre for their contribution towards the development of the game on the island.
