Dear Editor,
The kidnapping of close to three hundred female students by the notorious Boko Haram cult in Nigeria must be condemned by all. This can only be the work of sick and depraved minds who under the guise of religion are creating mayhem in the Nigerian society.
It is sickening that a small group of Islamic fanatics could be allowed to get away with such acts of barbarity. The international community in particular the Organization of African States (OAU) must moblize all the resources they have at their disposal to bring an end to this insanity which has already claimed the lives of hundreds of people not to mention the destruction to property worth millions of dollars.
The Islamic community should not only disassociate themselves from such ungodly and uncivilized behaviour but also condemn in the strongest possible language such actions. This will help to isolate the cult and send a clear signal to those responsible that such actions will not be tolerated nor condoned by Islam and the Islamic community in general.
