The Machinery Corporation (Guyana) Limited (MACORP), on Thursday officially launched the New D2 series of hydraulics excavator here in Guyana.
At the company’s Providence, East Coast Demerara location, operators gave a spectacularly thrilling demonstration of the various pieces of Caterpillar machinery the company has to offer. MACORP is the only local authorized dealer of this brand.
Present at the ‘Iron Dance’ demo-fair was Prime Minister, Samuel Hinds and Minister of Public Works, Robeson Benn, along with Mexico’s Ambassador to Guyana, Francisco Olguin and officials and employees of MACORP.
It was noted that the decision to import better quality machinery was influenced by the growing needs of customers, keeping in mind their challenges.
It was said that today’s operations require dependable machines that can do more, with less materials and money spent.
According to Damien Lewis, Marketing Assistant of MACORP, “These machines are exceptionally reliable and highly productive, built to lower operating costs through reduced fuel consumption and simplified routine maintenance.”
He explained that some of the features and benefits of the new excavators include a mechanically controlled engine that can use less than the standard fuel in a better way. It also consumes a lot less, owing to a powerful hydraulic system.
The machineries also have a well developed operator station. The New D2 Series Hydraulic excavators have one of the largest buckets in its class. It is also of robust design to provide years of reliable service.
Lewis said, “The field-proven C7.1 engine is designed for ease of service and can work efficiently at altitudes up to 4,000 meters or 13,120 feet.”
He noted that compared to its predecessor, the new engine uses approximately three to five percent less fuel, depending on work mode.
“An automatic engine-speed control lowers engine rpm during no-load or light-load conditions to minimize fuel consumption,” he added.
Lewis told this newspaper that the implement hydraulic system on the D2 series provides high horsepower for digging and lifting, as well as for using heavy-duty, hydraulically powered work tools.
The new excavator can also quickly change work tools, moving from task to task, putting the machine to optimum use.
“The ergonomically designed operator station is both quiet and comfortable, and it features a full-color LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) monitor with a choice of 28 languages. The standard suspension seat is adjustable to accommodate a wide range of operators and to enhance operator comfort and efficiency,” Lewis said.
He noted that the machine’s large windows ensure all-around visibility and promote job-site safety. The viscous rubber cab mounts dampen both vibration and sound transmitted to the operator station, to further enhance operator comfort and productivity.
Lewis said that the new series also has a large metal roof hatch that can be opened for added visibility and air circulation.
“This versatile series can use a wide range of buckets, either pin-on or coupler-type, along with a selection of ground-engaging tools, to fit the machine to its digging environment for optimum performance and durability. Buckets feature precise geometry for easy loading, which speeds digging cycles, increases production, and conserves fuel,” Lewis explained.
He noted that MACORP is confident that the new machines will meet and exceed the customers’ expectations for its superior performance.
