To reignite the passion for tennis in Guyana, the Guyana Tennis Association has scheduled the first of several exciting exhibition matches over the next few months as a lead up to the Inter Guyana Games (IGG) for tennis which will be held in late October.
The first showdown will be held tomorrow, Sunday May 11th at 4:00pm sharp on the courts of the National Racquet Centre, which is located opposite the Guyana Technical Institute (GTI) on Woolford Avenue.
This is a highly anticipated matchup between Berbician Veteran Champion Mr. Godfrey Lowden and Mr. Albert Razick of the US Embassy. Lowden has been a formidable force in the Over 35 year old category for many years and Razick is a US Diplomat, who has many years of experience playing tennis and is eager to test his prowess on the Guyanese tennis scene. Spectators can expect to be treated to a great tennis match down to the last point.
The match Umpire will be Dr. Steve Surujbally. The general public is invited to this event which is free of cost and tennis players are asked to visit the facility as early as 10:00am to participate in friendly matches in the lead up to the exhibition match.
