Hall of Fame to honour past stalwarts in the making
President of the West Indies Fullbore Shooting Council, Trinidad and Tobago’s Norris Gomez and Secretary, Guyanese Ryan Sampson and Treasurer, Barbadian Richard Arthur, yesterday convened the Ordinary council Meeting of that body at the Twickinham Ranges, Jamaica at which a number of pertinent matters were discussed.
Among the matters discussed was the setting up of a Hall of Fame to honour and recognize the contributions of past stalwarts of the sport in the Caribbean. Guyanese Paul Slowe has been tasked with the responsibility of coming up with the criteria for selection of persons in this regard.
It is anticipated that the council would look back at the past 40 years in order to come up with eligible persons including shooters and administrators.
Slowe will report back to the council which will then deliberate and ratify same. A decision would also be made on which territory would be the home for the Hall of Fame; Trinidad and Tobago seems to be the front runner in this regard.
The council also decided that they will select a West Indies team at the end of every competition.
It was reported that there would be a competition at Camp Perry in the USA and in Canada later this year. There will also be the Palmer Match (world long range c/ship) that would be held at Camp Perry in 2015.
