As part of its preparations for what has already been labeled the biggest Schools Football Tournament, Digicel recently hosted another round of coaching clinics, this time in Lethem, at the Tabatinga ground.
According to a release, the Organisers’ preparation for this year’s mega event, which is touted to exceed last year’s number of participants, is already in full swing, the first of a series of coaching clinics was held in Lethem on April 24th-25th at the Tabatinga Ground. This two day session saw nineteen (19) participants, teachers and community members from Aishalton, Sand Creek, Annai, Mahdia and St. Ignatius being trained by coaches Bryan Joseph and Joseph Wilson of the Guyana Football Coaches Association.
“We are keen on ensuring that these participants know what is expected of them on all levels during the matches that will be played in their region, there are strict rules and guidelines, we expect the highest level of professionalism and commitment from our organisers” stated Co-ordinator Lavern Fraser-Thomas.
The format of the coaching sessions is theoretical and practical and the first in a series of preparatory works being conducted to ensure all parties involved are totally equipped and are ready for this year’s tournament.
Several other coaching sessions are planned for regions one, two and five.
