A 53-year-old security guard was yesterday indicted before a senior Magistrate for the alleged stabbing to death of another man at a city premises.
Kelvin Chisholm appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, charged with murdering Nigel Lawson in Georgetown on May 1, last. He was not required to enter a plea since the charge was laid indictably.
Representing the Prosecution was Corporal Bharat Mangru who did not reveal the details of the crime. He indicated that the investigations into the matter are thus far incomplete.
The Corporal said, however, there are currently seven witnesses to support the police’s case against the accused.
It was also revealed that advice has not yet been sought from the Chambers of the Director of Public Prosecutions. Chisholm who was represented by a legal counsel was remanded to prison. The case will be called again on May 16 for report and fixtures.
It was previously reported that Lawson lost his life last Thursday night after he was stabbed by a security guard while allegedly trying to dump garbage in a Quamina Street, South Cummingsburg premises.
