Notorious wanted man, Tameshwar Khemraj, called “Rambo”, 27, of Lot 171 Nigg, Corentyne, Berbice who was wanted for a number of misdemeanors, has been remanded to jail.
Khemraj, who was wanted for a number of matters including the Rose Hall Town $10M robbery, was nabbed when he turned up at the Albion Magistrate’s Court for a matter. At the time he was found with six grams of cannabis in his pocket while in the precincts of the police station and Magistrate’s Court.
He was in court, accused of robbing Tageram Madramootoo on October 10, last at Nigg. He was granted bail in the matter and a decision is pending.
He appeared on Friday in the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Shurdell Isaacs-Marcus on three different charges.
According to Prosecutor Sergeant Godfrey Playter the man who is well known to the authorities was charged on April 29, while at the Albion Police Station. On Saturday April 19, at Nigg Settlement Corentyne, Berbice he threatened Odessa Narine. The woman was at her home washing her motor car when the accused threatened her on more than one occasion. He first drove up in a motor car and used a series of expletives towards her before returning on a motorcycle.
He reportedly told her she can’t live there and threatened to burn down her house. He allegedly boasted of taking away $10M and also pulled a black object from his waist. The woman became afraid for her life and reported the matter to the police station.
He was not arrested since he was on the run.
Khemraj was also charged for the $10M robbery that was committed on Corentyne businessman, Ramlingum Mangalie, around 07:15 hrs on Wednesday April 9 at Rose Hall Town, Corentyne.
Mangalie was in his minivan PPP 1632 when two unmasked armed bandits on a motor cycle which bore no registration number. The men proceeded to rob the man of the cash that he was about to deposit into the Republic Bank Rose Hall Branch.
Ramlingum, his brother Subramanie Mangalie and father Mangalie Permaul, own and operate the Permaul’s Snackette, Trading and Distribution store at Lot 30 B Albion Road, Corentyne.
The men discharged some rounds before grabbing a bag containing $7M which belonged to Subramanie. They then grabbed another bag containing $3M which belonged to Ramlingum before fleeing the scene on the motor cycle.
Khemraj was refused bail on the robbery charge and granted 10,000 each on the other two matters. He will have to return to court on May 20, next, at the Albion Magistrate’s Court. His alleged accomplice Davendra Harricharran called ‘Bara’ 27 of Nigg Squatting area Corentyne Berbice was subsequently caught and remanded to jail.
‘Rambo’ was also wanted for questioning in the robbery/rape committed at Lot 21 Maida Farm Corentyne, Berbice on April 12, last. During that ordeal which occurred around 20:00 hrs, three armed masked bandits with a shotgun, a cutlass and knife entered the home of a hire car driver Rasheed Mohamed, 33, and robbed him of cash, a cell phone and jewelry.
The men also robbed the man’s wife of a substantial sum of cash and a large quantity of gold jewelry. They also robbed two other persons who were in the home at the time of cash and a quantity of gold and other jewelry, a cell phone and $700 US.
Rambo was also among four bandits who had on Saturday June 2, 2011 at Cumberland, East Canje while armed with an AK 47, cutlasses and knives robbed a couple of over $1M in cash and jewelry, four cell phones and a quantity of jewelry. They were subsequently tracked down and held at a house at Edinburgh, East Bank Berbice.
