A 15-year-old Cotton Field student and his 13-year-old cousin, both of Bush Lot Village, Essequibo Coast, remain critical at the Suddie Public Hospital days after ingesting a poisonous substance.
The Cotton Field Secondary School students, who are cousins, were reportedly involved in a prolonged intimate relationship which attracted a furious outburst between their parents.
On Tuesday last, the teenage couple were apparently caught in a compromising position allegedly by a family member, who brought it to the attention of one of their parents.
The 15-year-old and his 13-year-old cousin ventured to the mainland aback of Tapakuma and ingested the poisonous substance.
The report added that the 15-year-old later called his parents informing them of his act. The frantic parents traveled to the desolate area and transported the teenagers to the Suddie Public Hospital where they both remain patients.
Several months the Region Two Department of Education staged a march engaging students from all of the Schools in the Region to fight against suicide.
