Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) B and Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) registered victories when the final preliminary round games of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Brain Street U-15 limited overs tournament ended yesterday.
At Muslim Youth Organisation, DCC B overcame Bel Air Rubis by five wickets. Bel Air Rubis never recovered after losing a few early wickets and were bowled out for 67 in 23.1 overs, batting first. Nand Sanicharan and Anthony Sukhai scored 17 each. Shamar Jones claimed 3-14, Osafa Green 3-16 and Adrian Hackett 2-20. DCC B encountered a few nervous moments before reaching their target in 22 overs, ending on 68-5. Anthony Roopnarine made 12 as Michael Pooran captured 3-17.
At Bourda, MSC defeated Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) by 74 runs. MSC took first strike and posted 170-6 off their allotted 55 overs. Avin Gangadin top scored with 53 (2×4) and Ronaldo McGarrell made 31. The duo shared in a second wicket stand of 82 after MSC lost Darren Dyal (13) with the score on 36. Avinash Boodhoo snared 3-48. GCC were never in the hunt and were sent packing for 96 in 37.4 overs in reply. Khemchand Hardyal stroked 35 (6×4) and extras contributed 39. Sase Norville grabbed 3-22 and Yannick Rameshwar 2-21.
The competition continues today with semi final action. GNIC who won the league phase will host MSC and DCC A will battle Transport SC at GYO.
