“Guyana is very beautiful and the people very friendly and they make you feel warm at heart,” were the sentiments shared by one of the four Chinese travelers who are on a world tour in a Recreational Vehicle (RV).
Guyana is the 48th country visited by the team which has been travelling for the past two years. Their next stop is French Guiana and Brazil.
What started out as a group of 12 in two Recreational Vehicles (RV’s) shrunk to four as the group pursues their global travel. Their names are Wujingyi, Chun-Hung Chen, Shuotiao and Hambin Chen.
“Guyana has beautiful wooden buildings and rich history; we buy lots of local handmade souvenirs…Guyana people are very friendly, some rich, some poor but they are friendly,” one traveler said.
The group left Saturday night and is in Suriname at present. Some of the countries covered included Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Canada, USA, Mexico, Cuba, the Bahamas, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela.
The local leg of the tour was organized by President of the Guyana Cuba Solidarity Movement (GCSM), Haleem Khan while he was in Cuba. The tourists also visited the Shaheed Boys & Girls Orphanages and many additional sites in their 11 -day stay.
The group was especially excited on Saturday last on their visit to the male and female softball cricket tournaments at the DCC Ground in Lance Gibbs Street, Queenstown.
A specially made cup with an emblem was presented to the Chinese group by a representative of Trophy Stall which sponsored the event. This was done to show Guyanese appreciation to the group on their visit to Guyana.
The group of passionate young people from China who dared to achieve and complete their dream of travelling 200 countries driving a Recreational Vehicle (RV) will continue until they have fulfilled their mission
After the end of their trip around the world, the group plans to share their entire journey, experience and memorabilia collected in an exclusive museum and open a photography exhibition to share with the world.
The lifetime journey started on May 19, 2012 in China. Since then, the group has traveled through four continents, crossed three oceans and visited 48 countries and more than 170 cities in an RV.
The Chinese also thanked the Anna Catherina Islamic Complex (ACIC) “brother Hakim and Masjid brothers” who ensured that their stay at the complex was a comfortable and memorable experience during their visit to Guyana.
