Dear Sir,
A timely reminder, “I’m not into cliquism, in pursuit of seeking a position, or becoming a member of any cabal that seeks to disrupt the smooth flow of the sport’s administration. Rather my desire is for the sport to be reflective of meaningful development. Is this asking too much?
Since it’s not my intention to have an ongoing public discourse with Eton Moses on pertinent issues that continue to affect the development of football, in the interest of “Fair Play” I, would advocate that his spot –kick from the penalty spot, after once again diving in the penalty-area, and unjustifiably being awarded a penalty, which should have resulted in him receiving a “caution” (yellow card), be retaken.
His spot-kick unbelievingly missed the intended target, and nevertheless uprooted the corner flag, much to the dismay of his team-mates, coaching staff and supporters, which was well documented in his letter captioned “A response to Lester Sealey’s letter of 21-04-2014” K.N 24.04.14. Instead of seeking atonement for squandering a glorious goal scoring opportunity and a possible match winner, Moses seeks to blame the asst: referee for improper positioning. As a consequence his over-indulgence in polemics, has once more unfolded, despite his complete avoidance of issues I had raised in my letter.
But he resorts to shifting the goalpost to suit his personal agenda, launching personal attacks and character assassination, under the guise of “quality research” that he can easily conduct. Since as a close confidante of the current President, who can always provide the relevant information, Moses can also be assisted by his other compatriots, employees of the GFF.
Editor, there are no “skeletons in my cupboard” and over the years, my public expressions about the continued under-development of the sport, focused mostly on issues. Occasionally, individuals were mentioned whenever it mattered most.
While I was previously aware of the salary scale of the General Secretary, in triple digits, I am totally unaware that allowances were paid to him and his Deputy, to attend meetings. Surely, if it were so I would have condemned it publicly as I had on more than one occasion publicly advocated.
“Given the poor structure of local football, there is no need for a Deputy General Secretary, since the money can be better utilized towards paying a full-time local national coach and assistant!” Additionally, as a layman, I was against the GFF forfeiting its rights as a host nation in the World Cup Qualifier against Mexico, Eton you can do the research.
While I don’t condone or uphold wrongdoings, a timely reminder often entails realizing previous mistakes, strive towards correcting them and be bold enough to extract the positives and move on. But is this so? Absolutely not, rather pettiness surfaces within the context of how long I took to respond to a letter; despite the fact that I have no jurisdiction over Kaieteur News’ Sports Department, in the publication of letters.
An executive who flouted the rules of the Congress and played on the same day and spat at a referee (Female) as a national player, Once again “quality research” would show that it takes “two hands to clap” and with four teams being involved on January 1, 2014 at the MSC ground Linden, all four should have been sanctioned. But it couldn’t have, since it would have affected Matthias’ cronies within the UDFA!
By the way, wasn’t the former national player, who now sits as an executive subject to a disciplinary hearing dealt with for the spitting incident? “Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones”! If this was so the Buxton United Secretary would have known that “respect for one’s office they hold is paramount”! Did he not verbally abuse the former GFF President (ag) at a National League match, with no sanction? Wasn’t he derogatory in his remarks to a representative of the former GFF Auditors at last year’s AGM?
And only recently at the EDFA-AGM, Eton’s abrasiveness was on display once again as a “badge of honour”! Can the sport allow such unruly and unethical behavior sir, moreover, when the perpetrator is an employee of the Parliamentary Office, who fails to apply the relevant procedures associated with how meetings are conducted?
I.e. On a point of order; Mr. Chairman, through the chair, “The foolishness of a fool is always in his folly” and it’s with great pity the surname Moses, is not in the realm of the biblical Moses, with a prophetic voice! “Moses, Moses, take off your shoes, where thou standest is holy ground”!
While the list would be very long to list my successes and contributions to the sport, in the areas of management at the association level extensive and not quality research would have to be done. A few examples would be:
i) The then GFA inaugural Cecil Farinha inter-sub association round-robin K.O under-16 finals GFL (3) Vs. UDFSA (0) venue. GNS Sports Complex:
ii) GFA Carib League finals GFC: GFL (2) Vs. UDFSA (0)
iii) Fruta Conquerors 6 youth titles; 3 Mayor’s Cup K.O titles; 2 Kashif & Shangai K.O. titles; 2 Futsal titles;2 GFA Premier League titles; 1 GFA President’s Cup K.O. and 1 GFF National League title.
For the record, Fruta Conquerors remains the only club in the history of the Kashif & Shanghai K.O. to win a title without conceding a goal, which is also applicable in the GFA, President’s Cup K.O. Numerous clubs in the city can attest to my administrative assistance, in addition to crafting a constitution for the East Bank, years ago, that was subsequently adopted at a GFF General Council meeting, enabling them to have affiliated status.
Within East Demerara, your club Eton benefitted from playing in youth tournaments within the city, en-route to its success. “Ingratitude is always worse than witchcraft, and there are still teachers around, that beat for the answers and not the questions”! And definitely I cannot fail to mention the numerous players Fruta Conquerors provided to the national grid, both at the junior and senior levels. While within the GFA, unlike what occurs now, competitions were played at the Under-11,-13, -15, -17, -19, – 21, 1st Division and Premier League, along with a knockout competition for all clubs.
Respectfully yours,
Lester Sealey.
