Taking cognizance of the deviant behaviour of today’s youths in the society the first year Social Work Students of the University of Guyana, Berbice campus have decided to help check the situation.
Realizing also that it is a herculean task, the class was divided into three groups to target the West Coast, New Amsterdam and Black Bush Polder areas.
As such, students and teachers of the West Coast of Berbice were the beneficiaries of a one-day seminar held by the first year Social Work Students. The seminar which was held at the Number Eight Secondary school was attended by the No.8 Secondary, Fort Wellington, Bush Lot and Rosignol Secondary Schools.
The attendees were spoken to on a number of topics including manners and moral, moral from a religious perspective, some principles of right and wrong in society among other topics.
Practical sessions were also conducted on table manners.
Role plays were also conducted by the university students on telephone ethics, the importance of manners and moral.
At the completion of the session, students were asked to explain and demonstrate what they were taught in practical demonstrations in front of the class on the knowledge they acquire.
The group consisted of Saskia Hazel, Ronda Allison, Lotaya Clarke, Danielle Daphness, Tena Rigby, Selina, Shazeena Seetayah, Sheena Lewis and Lucresha Pompey.
