Police officials have confirmed that Popular Radio personality Curtis “Dj Casual” Armstrong, 34, and Sean Hinds, may have known their assailant who shot them, in the parking lot of the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
The two men were shot early Monday morning after an argument over “ice” erupted just after the Easter Fest show had concluded. Kaieteur News was told that Armstrong got into a bitter argument with some men over ice during the show. The argument “died down” after several patrons had urged them to stop.
The assailant, according to the sources, waited until the end of the show while Armstrong was heading to his car in the parking area, whipped out a firearm and shot him at close range as they got into an argument again.
Armstrong was shot twice, while Hinds was shot to his leg. Both men were taken to the hospital where Armstrong was immediately rushed into surgery. According to hospital sources the bullets which struck Armstrong to the abdomen missed all major internal organs and exited.
He spent several hours in surgery before he was taken to the recovery unit just after lunchtime yesterday.
The police in a press release said that it was about 04:10h yesterday when Armstrong was involved in an argument and subsequent scuffle with two men in the car park at the Providence Stadium.
Hinds, according to the police, intervened and one of the two men pulled out a firearm and shot Curtis Armstrong to his abdomen and left hand, and Sean Hinds to his left foot, after which they escaped.
One senior police official yesterday told Kaieteur News that investigators are waiting to speak to the victims to get details about the shooter. Investigations are still continuing.
