Players and cricket fans of the Upper Corentyne area will have to wait a little bit longer to witness the final of the much anticipated Price is Rite Supermarket sponsored Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) organised second division cricket final.
The match, which was scheduled to be played between Corriverton Cricket Club and Number 70 MYO at the Number 69 Vikings Ground Saturday, was rained out.
Overnight rain had left the outfield damp and caused some seepage on the pitch. However play was still scheduled to get on the way on time, but just before the scheduled start, continuous rain forced the umpires to call play off at 12:30hrs.
Despite the best effort of the ground staff it was confirmed some three hours after that play would not be possible.
Scores of persons had turned up at the venue dressed in the colours of the team they had intended support but were left disappointed.
Meanwhile, organizers from the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) are expected to meet with the sponsor soon to arrange a new date for the match to be played.
Corriverton Cricket Club booked their place in the final when they defeated No.71 Cricket Club by 124 runs; while Number 70 M.Y.O. had earlier earned the right to contest the final when they whipped Number 48 Challengers by 40 runs.
The final is scheduled to be played using coloured clothing, white ball and would be a 50 overs affair.
