High Court injunction discharged
The much anticipated Guyana Cup Fever horserace Meet is definitely on for today, Easter Sunday, at the Port Mourant Turf Club.
This was confirmed after the High Court Injunction sought and granted by Horse Owner Dennis DeRoop to compel the organisers of the activity to have his horse compete at the activity, was discharged. The matter was discharged by Chief Justice Ian Change at a hearing held in his chambers.
Meanwhile, the meet, which is being held in collaboration with the Jumbo Jet Auto Sales and Racing stables, has so far attracted over 80 entries. A packed and exciting day of racing is anticipated with eight races carted for the day.
With champion horse Score’s Even, unable to participate due to legal ramifications. Fans will be anxious to see if Treacle will be able to continue its dominance. There are a number of feature events on the day’s programme with the C class collision again the talk of the day with a whopping winner’s take of $2M and trophy up for grabs over one mile.
The co-feature event for three year old horses bred and born in Guyana and the West Indies will see the animals racing over a distance of 1200M for a winning pocket of $1M and trophy.
There is a race for four-year-old animals over a distance one mile for a winning money of $700,000 and trophy.
The E1 & Lower 1300M event will see the animals competing for a first prize of $600,000 and trophy. There is an event for G3 & Lower animals over a distance of 1300M for a pole position taking of $500,000 and trophy.
The H & lower gallop is also over 1200M for a first prize of $350,000and trophy.
The I2 and Lower race has a winning pocket of $300,000 and trophy over 1000M.
The final event for animals classified J2 and lower also over 1000M is for a winning purse of $200,000and trophy.
Horses such as of Treacle, Swing Easy, Got To Go, Run Nana Run, The Message, CP Got Even, California Strike, Red and Lovely, Grand De Roja, Force Entry, Some Legend Gold Rush, Milwaukie Blitz , Monsoon, Princess Alisha, it’s My Turn, Settle In Seattle, Silver Jet, Wild Grinder, Ameera’s Joy, Gypsy Rose, Untouchable, Flying in the Park, Set For fame, Flying baby, Gold Princess ,Serenity, Windy War, Rosetta, Times have changed, Princess Kiara, War Craft, Marathon Man, Appealing Harvest, Silent Lizzy, Fresh Again, Swing Easy, Top of the line , Damascus Dream, Joyful Victory, Bridal Stone Corner, Traditional Man, Miss Regina, Intruding Account, Princess Kiara, Silent Night, She So Special, Cat Massiah, Lucky Gold, Party Time, Easy To win, Angel Flyer, Sole Classic, Feels like Gold, Quiet Strom, Wild Grinder and Third World, Pixie Fire, Savion, Mona Lisa, I want Revenge, Golden Reprise, Diplomat, Speed Vision, Prince Bayaya, Windy Killer, Smarty Light, Lucky Gold among others will be in the running today.
The events will be held under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.
The top individual performers, including top Jockey and stable will receive accolades compliments of Trophy Stall, Bourda Market.
