A strong 9-member contingent is expected to depart these shores this morning to participate in the Junior Carifta Games scheduled to be staged in Martinique from April 19-21.
Yesterday the Athletic Association of Guyana held a Press Briefing at Olympic House where the media was apprised of the team’s preparations and the Body’s expectations about the team’s performance.
Present at the Meeting were President of the AAG Aubrey Hudson, Vice-President Gavin Hope, Head Coach Sham Johnny and athletes Jason Yaw, Kevin Abbensetts and Kade Pearce.
Hudson in his remarks stated that the team is leaving on a high note, adding that much is expected from them.
Hudson disclosed that he has gotten the assurance constantly from the athletes that they are ready to make Guyana proud and judging from what Head Coach Johnny has told him he is optimistic that they will return with hardware.
Johnny in his presentation said that he was extremely pleased with the selection of field athletes since it served to reflect a new dispensation within the AAG which is to include all those who’ve qualified providing the funding is available.
He said he expects the team to do even better than last year.
All the athletes expressed confidence of doing well.
