Detectives at the Anna Regina Police Station were summoned to Reliance Village, Essequibo Coast, following the discovery on Friday morning of the body of a female alcoholic. The body was lying face up in a trench, clad in a red blouse and brown skirt.
The dead woman’s remains were subsequently transported to the Suddie mortuary for a post mortem.
Dead is 53-year-old Banumanattie Ramcharran, a/k “Carmen”, formerly of Sparta Village.
Reports are that the woman said to be a heavy drinker, was seen walking around the Anna Regina market. She had attended a wake Thursday night, at Reliance. She reportedly left the wake unknown to her sister, Drupattie Persaud, of Reliance.
Ramcharran’s lifeless body was discovered Friday morning by Reliance Villagers. They alerted her sister Drupattie, who summoned the police.
No marks of violence were discovered on Ramcharran’s body. She was the mother of two.
