Dear Mr. Editor,
I am happy to reply to Mr. Sealey’s missive, April 11, 2014 in the Kaieteur News, in which he asked about my role in reviewing cost cutting measures in the GFF.
Firstly, my tenure saw four General Council meetings, of which three were with this administration. At the first General Congress with this administration I co-sponsored three pieces of policy interventions of which two are presently part of the GFF Constitution and the other led to the changing of the Auditor.
Mr. Editor my contributions are in the minutes of the GFF hence, the comments made in paragraph thirteen of his letter are off the mark, since learning can only take place when there exists vessels wanting to be filled.
Consequently, there is however merit in the point on the lax of the General Council as it relates to activism of new ideas, but old habits die hard Mr. Sealy. The Executive however must be allowed to function and those who failed us in the past must retire gracefully, but I acknowledge that this is not a view shared by some in the General Council.
Mr. Sealey, while I acknowledge your point on the GFA situation in paragraph five of your letter, please say the same about those who have plundered the GFF in 2012/3 and before.
Mr. Editor, the GFF Audit report is out and while the writer wanted me to influence expenditure he must alert his mind to the Opportunity Cost of registering the Beach Soccer team as against the U15 Team. The cronies he represent by intuition, did not register our U15 team in 2012 to play in 2013, so in prudence, I will support not going further into deficit if it was not for youth development.
The GFF has two main sources of income, a grant from FIFA and levies from tournaments, hence meeting financial obligations require assertiveness. Mr. Sealey this has happened since the elections to now even against the distractors going to courts, while still owing Associations Levies and not declaring their Books.
Since we are discussing expenditure, would Mr. Sealey contrast the thirty six paid trips home in one year that the GFF in April 2012 signed in an undated contract with the National Coach as against repairs to a part of the GFF building by the GFF. I hope he gets help to analyze the present Audit report.
Mr. Editor this is how prudent those before Mr. Matthias were to the extent that they want to return. In one year the GFF should be returned to a balance by the magic of Moses and Matthias, while the part time employer and associates of Mr. Sealey took years to build the deficit.
Yours in Service,
Eton Moses
