Entries are set to close next Tuesday for the much anticipated Guyana Cup Fever horserace meet slated for Sunday 20th April (Easter Sunday) at the Port Mourant Turf Club, Port Mourant Corentyne Berbice. The meet which will be held in collaboration with the Jumbo Jet Auto Sales and Racing stables has so far attracted over 80 entries.
So far it is the richest race meet for the year with prize monies totaling over $15M which includes cash and trophies. A packed and exciting day of racing is anticipated with eight races carded. The feature event is for horses classified C and lower over a distance of One mile with the winner set to run away with a whopping $2M and trophy.
The co-feature event for three year old horses bred and born in Guyana and the West Indies will see the animals racing over a distance of 1200M for a winning pocket of $1M and trophy.
There is a race for four-year-old animals over a distance of one mile for winning money of $700,000 and trophy.
The E1 & Lower 1300M event will see the animals competing for a first prize of $600,000 and trophy. There is an event for G3 & Lower animals over a distance of 1300M for a pole position taking of $500,000 and trophy.
The ‘H & lower gallop is also over 1200M for a first prize of $350,000 and trophy.
The ‘I’2 and Lower race has a winning pocket of $300,000 and trophy over 1000M.
The final event for animals classified J2 and lower also over 1000M, is for a winning purse of $200,000 and trophy.
Horse owners are reminded that they must pay at least 50% of their entrance fee before their animals are entered.
Among the sponsors on board are Banks DIH Ltd, Digicel, Shariff Business Enterprise and racing Stables, Inshan Bacchus Business Enterprise, N and M Trucking and Auto sales.
The events will be held under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.
The top individual performers including top Jockey and stable will receive accolades compliments of Trophy Stall, Bourda Market.
