As the Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the death of former Swiss House Cambio Managing Director, Farouk Razac, continued before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, the Prosecution called its 15th witness to testify on behalf of the state.
For a second time, Razac’s wife, Carol Ann Lynch, is charged with murdering him on May 7, 2007 at their Ireng Place, Bel Air Park, Georgetown residence.
The PI got underway Tuesday last in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
During yesterday’s proceedings, the Prosecution led by Corporal Bharat Mangru who is attached to the Chambers of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) called Corporal Lakeram Datt to offer a sworn testimony.
Datt was, in 2007, a crime scene photographer attached to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at the Brickdam Police Station. Photographs and negatives of the alleged crime scene were tendered as evidence.
He was cross examined by Defence Attorney Peter Hugh. The Prosecution declined to re-examine.
Hugh and Attorney Latchmie Rahamat are representing Lynch.
Mangru indicated that seven more witnesses were supposed to testify, but this has been reduced to five, since two of the witnesses have migrated and no contact was established with them.
He, however, referred to the evidence offered by the couple’s longstanding neighbour David Faulkner who had told the court that his wife now resides in Miami, United States of America.
The case will be called again on April 24. The Chief Magistrate, in response, instructed the Prosecution to use the two-week adjournment period to make checks for the remaining witnesses.
So far the court has heard testimonies from the couple’s friend Sharon Sanmogan; their fitness trainer, Karan Dutt; longstanding neighbour David Faulkner; surveillance system technician Joseph Chung; Lynch’s brother Robert Jr; her teenage daughter, her parents Robert Sr. and Edith Lynch; her niece Melissa Watson; brother of the deceased Fazeel Razac; Detective Inspector Ray Geness, Sergeant Lillian Scotland, retired Inspector Sydney Charles, Dr. Sheik Hassan Amir and Corporal Lakeram Datt.
