Rivalry in the Elizabeth Styles Under-19 50 overs cricket competition in Berbice continued recently with more outstanding performances.
Berbice Under-19 batsman Nick Ramsaroop blasted 128 (9×4 5×6), Avishkar Sewkarran stroked 91 (8×4) and Guyana Under-17 all-rounder Parmanand Ramdhan hit 67 (7×4 3×6) to spearhead Blairmont Community Centre to a mammoth 351-8 off 45 overs against D’Edward, the highest score by a team in the competition so far.
Ramsaroop and Sewkarran featured in an opening stand of 227 in 30 overs. When D’Edward replied they had to contend with Berbice Under-15 pacer Rameshwari Somwaru who snared 5-6 from 6 overs and medium pacer Sewkarran who rounded off a fine all round display with 5-12 from 7 overs to topple D’Edward for a disappointing 24.
Crabwood Creek Risings opening batsman Naresh Deo slammed 105 (3×4 9×6) in their total of 185 off 30.2 overs against No.70 Young Star whose off spinner Thameshwar Kumar grabbed 6-36.
Deo’s effort however went in vain as Kumar slammed 71 (6×4 6×6) to steer Young Star to an easy six 6 wicket win.
Clifton Lindee fell short of a ton by three runs (15×4 1×6) and Kwesi Mickle 60 (6×4) to steer Police to 268 in 43.2 overs against Edinburgh. When Edinburgh replied, Police off spinner Leon Andrews took 5-21 from 7 overs to help destroy Edinburgh for 139 despite a well played 70 (11×4 1×6) from opening batsman, Joseph Giddings.
