Dear Editor,
Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the article captioned, “Essequibo post offices cannot pay pensioners,” as carried in your newspaper on Tuesday April 8, 2014.
Management of the Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC) wishes to sincerely apologise to Mr. Darchiville, the other affected pensioners and the general public for the inconvenience which came as a result of administrative and logistic challenges.
While we are aware that most of the Essequibo pensioners were paid between April 1 to April 4, Management is concerned when even one customer is denied service and we are currently revisiting the situation with a view to avoid any reoccurrence.
Our sincere apology to all affected customers especially pensioners.
Mr. Henry Dundas
Postmaster General
Guyana Post Office Corporation
GPOC offers an apology
