Executive member of the Alliance For Change, Sasenarine Singh, yesterday tendered his resignation from the party citing personal reasons.
Singh, based in the United States, has been vocal on Government’s economy, and was also sitting on the party’s Management Committee, helping to coordinate the AFC’s US chapter.
In his resignation letter to David Patterson, AFC’s General Secretary, Singh said that the resignation was immediate.
“I hereby tender my resignation from the Alliance for Change with immediate effect for personal reasons. I take this opportunity to wish the Alliance for Change successes as it seeks to lead our people out of underdevelopment and away from the politics of nepotism, crony capitalism and pettiness.”
Singh said he will re-enter active politics in Guyana when the opportunity for remigration to Guyana presents itself, “which I hope would be sooner than later.”
“I would like to thank the leadership of the AFC for its guidance and for having offered me the opportunity to serve the party and the people of Guyana.”
Singh urged the people of Guyana the courage of conviction to “make the right turn” and to “vote out of office the corrupt and immoral politicians who continue to dominate the political landscape of Guyana”.
Sasenarine Singh has been with AFC since 2010, upon migrating to the USA. He has been one of the resource persons along with Salim Nazurdeen, Lionel Peters and Tarron Khemraj who provided financial and political advice with the Management Committee to finalize the 2011 Action Plan for that party, for general elections of the same year.
He has been working with the New York/New Jersey Chapter on fundraising projects, concentrating in especially the Queens, New York area where he lives.
The party’s General Secretary confirmed that indeed a resignation letter was received.
“We have received the letter of resignation from Mr. Sasenarine Singh. We take this opportunity to thank him for his service to the party. Sase worked hard for the AFC, especially during the 2011 elections. His knowledge and understanding of financial matters especially was well respected and relied on.”
Singh said that the party understands that Singh had personal reasons for resigning and respects those reasons.
“There are no hard feelings and the mutual respect remains. We wish Sase all the very best in the future and look forward to the time when he will remigrate to his homeland to continue the struggle for a better Guyana. The members of the party and Sase will remain friends outside of the political arena.”
