Two cross dressers were forced to seek medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after they came under attack in the vicinity King Street and North Road last night.
The two were among a group of five who claimed they were simply “hanging out” when a minibus (registration number withheld) drove up and an individual whom they did not recognise, opened fire with what is believed to be a paintball gun.
One of the victims of the attack, Seon Persaud, said that he sustained three hits, one each to his head, back and right side buttock. Persaud said that he fell to the ground and “black out.”
Another victim, Micron Benons, sustained one shot to his left foot.
Persaud’s friend, Quincy McEwan, who claimed to have seen the bus approaching, recalled seeing a side door to the bus slowly opening. It was soon after that McEwan said that he heard shots fired and the bus sped away.
“All I hear was pow, pow, pow and when I look I see my colleague fall to the ground and stretching out,” McEwan recalled.
According to the members of the group they rushed to the Brickdam Police Station to make a report but were merely asked to seek medical attention at the public hospital.
And this is not the first time that the group had endured such a dilemma. They disclosed that they were subjected to such attacks at least two times previously.
