New Opportunity Corps seniors (NOC) and El Dorado SC recorded victories when the South Essequibo Cricket Committee (SECC) 40 overs tournament continued on Sunday last on the Essequibo Coast.
New Opportunity Corps (NOC) defeated the Rising Star Sports Club by five wickets at NOC ground. Rising Star batted first after winning the toss and were bowled out for 124 in 22.2 overs, losing their last 6 wickets for 23 runs. Devon Ramnauth scored 26, Rovin Dusraj 24 and Ricardo Peters 14. Spinner Aquacy Adams was the pick of the bowlers for NOC picking up 5 for 18 off 4.2 overs. Mohendra Balbadar took 2 for 16 off 3 overs, while Mark Gonsalves and Ryan Heyliger had one each.
NOC responded with 125-5 in 26 overs. Vice Captain Orin Heyliger stroked an unbeaten 31 (1×4, 2×6), while Adams supported with 18, Brandon Cabose 16, Nelon Cadogan 12 not out and Mark Gonsalves 11. Bowling for Rising Star, Rovin Dusraj and R. Narine captured two wickets each.
At the Johanna Cecilia Ground, host ElDorado Sports Club got the better of the NOC Junior Team by four wickets. NOC took first strike after winning the toss and were skittled for 108 off 27.1 overs. ElDorado SC replied with 109-6 in 17.5 overs.
The NOC Seniors will take on their Junior counterparts on Sunday at the NOC Ground. A win for the seniors will see them progress to the semifinals.
