The curtains came down Friday on the school tour orchestrated by the Princess Fun City Entertainment Centre with some schools even taking away brand new computer systems. The two-month long school tour, which was undertaken in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, saw children from nursery, primary and secondary levels schools across the country being able to access the fun-filled facilities at practically no cost.
And five of those schools were on Friday presented with computers compliments of the Management team of Princess Hotel, Casino and Fun City. The schools walking away with the computers were: All Saints Primary, Academy of Excellence, Canje Secondary, Endeavour Primary and Exe’s Nursery.
Minister of Culture Youth and Sports, Dr. Frank Anthony was on hand to help hand over the computer systems to representatives of the privileged schools.
According to Marketing Manager of the Entertainment Centre, Ali Williams, the school tour programme was intended to offer to children, some of whom are less fortunate, access to the Providence, East Bank Demerara, Fun City. “This is actually something that management prides itself on doing…management loves doing things like these; it is about the children, children who may never be able to go and sit in a theatre and watch a movie…this is something we have been doing for a while and will continue to do so,” said Williams.
Close on 100 schools were able to participate in the school tour.
Friday’s closing ceremony was laced with a number of entertaining activities including children reciting poems and dancing.
