The Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) has organized an Inter Secondary School 20/20 Cricket competition for schools in the Upper Corentyne area.
The four Secondary schools in the Upper Corentyne catchment area will battle for the Parbatie Jaggai Memorial trophy as of yesterday. Matches are set to be played at the Crabwood Creek and the No.69 Red Rose grounds.
At a simple presentation ceremony held recently, two trophies and the sponsorship cheque were handed over by Mr. Steven Seeraj, son of the late Parbatie Jaggai to Mr. Vicky Bharosay, treasurer of the UCCA.

Mr. Seeraj mentioned that his mother, who was a big cricket fan, passed away five years ago and it is a fitting tribute to do something tangible in her honour.
Mr. Bharosay in his response thanked Mr. Seeraj on behalf of the UCCA for recognizing the UCCA as the most fitting entity to partner with in doing something for his mother. He said that choosing cricket, youths and education, the family cannot go wrong. He thanked the family for the much needed sponsorship of school cricket and pledged that the board will run this competition to the best of its abilities.
The four schools taking part are Tagore Memorial Secondary, Skeldon Annex, Skeldon High (Lutheran) and Skeldon Line Path Secondary.
Round one, yesterday, featured Skeldon High against Skeldon Line Path Secondary at the Crabwood Creek Ground and Tagore Memorial Secondary versus Skeldon Annex at the No.69 Red Rose ground.
