Orin Joseph Memorial Dominoes…
Pacesetters and Specialist have registered victories in their respective zones when the Georgetown leg of the Orin Joseph Memorial nationwide Dominoes competition continued recently at Faye Joseph’s residence in South Ruimveldt.
Pacesetters chalked 81 games to win zone two quarter final ahead of Lions 77 and Gangster on 70. Colin Thomas scored 17 and Roberto Osborne made 16 for the winners, while Godfrey Clavis marked 17 and Kevin Boston 16 for Lions. Dereck Collymore and Shellon Collymore were Gangster leading players with 17 and 16 games respectively.
Specialist registered 75 games to win the first round in zone three with Ken Wahl scoring 17 and Andrew Mendonca 16. R and R placed second with 70 and Phantom finished third on 67. Orin Favourite marked 17 for R and R, while Colin Moore scored 17 and Eon Welsh 16 for Phantom. The competition continues tonight at La Belle Hotel and bar with action in zone three.
Meanwhile, the Georgetown Dominoes Association will host a clash of the titans’ competition on Sunday at R and R sports club, Meadowbrook Gardens, South Ruimveldt from 14:30 hrs. Among the teams slated to battle for the top prize of $120,000 and a trophy are TNT, Phantom and Mix Up. The runner up will take home $60,000 and third place $30,000. Entrance fee is $15,000.
