Ranks at the Aurora Police Station are probing the recent shootout in the Essequibo River; Wednesday evening last, involving five heavily armed masked bandits and two Essequibo businessmen. So far the police are clueless about the identity of the armed men since they managed to escape.
The two Essequibo businessmen however, allegedly lodged statements with the police. It is still unclear what measures the police on the Essequibo Coast are undertaking to determine who were the men that fired the shots at a passenger boat, which was traveling to Supenaam.
Reports are that a boat with five occupants, who were masked and carried weapons, drove up behind a passenger boat, which was traveling from Parika to Supenaam late Wednesday evening. They appeared to be targeting the two businessmen from Charity.
The report added, one of the Charity businessmen returned fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
Monitors at Supenaam have assured they are putting things in place to maintain safety on the Rivers, more so, making the safety of passengers a priority.
