He would have been 54 next month but veteran motorbike mechanic Paul ‘Subbo’ Sobryan would never see his next birthday.
The top mechanic for over 30 years was testing a bike at the South Dakota Circuit on Phagwah day when he crashed, eventually succumbing to his injuries last Wednesday at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Over the years Sobryan built a solid reputation as only one of a handful of racing bike mechanics. He was involved in the repairs to the overseas bikers’ machines for the Bikers Fest at the National Park in addition to all of the ‘big bike’ riders for local and International motor racing events.
Sobryan, who was also involved in repairing Grass Track Motor Bikes, was laid to rest at the LeRepentier Cemetery yesterday after a well attended and moving funeral service at the St. James-the-Less Anglican Church on David Street, Kitty.
Sobryan is survived by his only daughter Precilla Sobryan and three brothers.
