The University of Guyana (UG) got the better of Everest by nine wickets last weekend at the UG ground when play in the Noble House Seafoods two-day second division cricket competition continued.
Everest won the toss and elected to bat and were all out for 205 off 61.2 overs; Kemraj Ramdeen hit 52 and Dwayne Perreira 49. Bowling for the home team, Dennis Heywood had 3-47 off 19.5 overs and Suresh Dhanai 3-32 off 12 overs.
UG in reply declared at 255 for 9 off 60 overs. Leon ‘Boo’ Williams hammered 11 fours in an entertaining even 100. Dhanai chipped in with 30 and Royan McAl scored an unbeaten 24. Left-arm spinner Javid Rasheed grabbed 5-66 off 20 overs for the Camp Road side.
Facing a deficit of 50 runs Everest were bowled out for 121 off 44.4 overs in their second innings. Three batsmen got into double figures. Mohan Ramdeen top-scored with 51 not out while Raphael Singh (24) and Randir Persaud (18) offered token support as four batsmen made ducks. Omesh Dhanram had 4-20 off 8.3 overs
Set 72 to win, UG reached 72-1 with Dhanai hitting 36 while Williams followed up his first innings ton with 29.
