The Police Progressive Youth Club (PPYC) won the Relay Championship they hosted at Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary on Sunday.
The Club amassed 116 points to win the event ahead of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), which finished second with 88 points and Christianburg/Wismar Secondary School (CWSS) that ended third with 78 points.
Olympian, Winston George put on a show for his Police Club, leading his
team to wins in the 4x200m win in 1:31.7 seconds and 4x400m in 3:27.7 seconds. In the 4x200m, GDF was second in 1:33.0, while CWSS was third in 1:39.9 seconds.
The same order ensued in the 4x400m as GDF finished second in 3:36.2s, while CWSS was third in 4:00.3s.
Police also captured the Female 4×100, 4×200, 4×400 and Medley Relay events in 52.1s, 1:47.6s, 4:14.3s and 1:52.5s respectively.
Meanwhile, in the Hits and Jams Entertainment-sponsored schools’ event, St John’s College won overall with 74 points while Kingston High School was second with 43 points and Tutorial High School third with 35 points.
Queenstown Secondary finished fourth with 26 points. St John’s was completely dominant with wins in the male and female medley, male and female 4x400m, the male 4x100m and the male 4x200m races.
PPYC Coach, Lyndon Wilson thanked their sponsors which included, GuyOil, MaCorp, Digicel, Wartsila, Hits and Jams Entertainment and former Commissioner of the Police, Leroy Brummell for their support in hosting the annual competition.
