Football fans on the Essequibo Coast and Moruca, Region One are filling with expectancy as the annual floodlight football competition is scheduled to commence at the Walton Hall ground, on the 12th of April.
Popular businessman and Organizer, Wayne Moore said preparations are unfolding smoothly as a lot of prospective footballers continue to show interest in the upcoming games. Moore explained that while twelve teams would be competing in the games with an inclusion of two female teams, Essequibo footballers are being engaged in a football league currently with the expectancy to have teams from the Region to be registered.
Games are scheduled to kick off at 3:00PM after the opening ceremony which will see the march past of teams.
The games are expected to be graced with the presence of the President of the Guyana Football Federation, Christopher Matthias, Regional Chairman, Parmanand Persaud and the commander of “G” Division, Mr. Adonis.
Moore said the games promise to be exciting with a lot of spectators expected. The businessman also indicated that sponsorship for the event has been already garnered. On board are Banks DIH, Original Juice Center in Charity, The W.D Mall at Charity and another business entity from Georgetown.
Moruca are the reigning champion.
