Family members of 34-year-old Eldon Gaime, the logger, whose firearm reportedly went off and struck him in the chin, killing him in the process, have indicated that they are at a loss as to his sudden death.
Gaime’s brother-in-law said he did not want to speculate but the family received the tragic news about Gaim’s death early this week and preparations are ongoing to have his body return to the Essequibo Coast, where a funeral would be planned for him, at least by this weekend.
Gaime’s body has been transferred to the Georgetown Hospital Mortuary for a post mortem examination on Friday. Initial reports suggest someone apparently struck Gaime, who was about to venture into the back dam with a stone and one of Gaime’s workers intervene. Another report said that Gaime ventured onto a tractor with his 12 gauge gun pointing upwards. The report added that the fire arm went off and Gaime was fatally struck.
A relative at the dead man’s Pomona, Essequibo Coast home said that Gaime had only ventured into the interior to work as a logger for the last month or so. He didn’t have any children.
