Defending champions St. George’s sent a worrying notice to all aspirants to their throne after inflicting a crushing 11-2 triumph over Tucville when play in this year’s Milo/Petra Organisation Schools Football Competition continued on Sunday, at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue.
The current holders of the title were led to victory through a hat-trick of goals from Quincy Lawrence, who netted in the 16th, 51st and 53rd, Adolph George in the 43rd and 45th, while six other players contributed solitary strikes.
They were Okeri Codrington (19th), Seon Taylor (26th), Ozeal Small (28th), Niante Northe (54th), Jamal Brown (57th) and Joshua Williams (59th).
Calvin Peters (65th) and Keifer Brandt (68th) replied for Tucville.
In the opening game of the day, Bishop’s High scraped past North Ruimveldt 4-3 on penalty kicks after regulation time failed to separate a 3-3 stalemate.
On target for the winners were Nathaniel King (12th), Joel Morrison (34th) and an own goal netted by Elroy George in the 64th minute completed their tally.
For North Ruimveldt, Tyrese Rowley (19th), Jamal Europe (36th) and Shamar DeSouza (54th) were the players on the scoresheet.
In the match that followed, Christ Church created the biggest upset of the day when they beat Chase Academy 4-2 in a penalty shootout after full time saw the teams deadlocked at 2-2.
Shemar Barrow continued his good showing for Chase Academy, firing in a brace in the 21st and 48th minutes, while Andre Trotz (32nd) and Kadeem Blackman (45th) responded for Christ Church.
Little known Queenstown then registered another upset after defeating the highly touted Carmel 3-1.
The goalscorers for the winning team were Williams DeSantos, who netted a pair in the 21st and 42nd minutes, while Nicholas McArthur’s 46th minute strike completed their tally.
Moses Gritten (44th) made the lone response for Carmel.
