Delroy Murphy for CAC Judo championships…Eleven practitioners promoted

Delroy Murphy made the qualifying standard and will represent Guyana at the Central American and Caribbean judo championships in Mexico, in November this year but his countryman, Hamza Eastman, failed in his bid when they participated in the CAC judo qualifications championship in Barbados, March 15 and 16 last.
President of the Guyana Judo Association (GJA) Raoul Archer accompanied the two practitioners and admitted that the level of competition was extremely high. He also said that in all, sixteen countries vied for places in the upcoming CAC games. The Judo Association President said that his organization had benefitted from the chivalry of several organizations and individuals and he is very grateful for their assistance. Among those contributing to the team’s participation are Director of Youth and Sports, Neil Kumar, Sankar Auto Sales and the Guyana Olympic Association.  Mr. Archer said that they have received similar help from several other entities and individuals who have asked not to be mentioned.
Meanwhile, in related Judo news, the Kitty Masjid Jamaat Judo Club recently held a grading exercise and several practitioners have qualified for new rankings. Those that have attained the yellow belt ranking are Daniel West, Ilyas Mursalin, Brandon Gammell, Iyaz Mursalin, Sherwin Durant, Mohammad Neisha, Asif Rasheed and Fazil Hack. Those promoted to orange belts are Iyaz Mursalin, Akash Persaud and Abrahim Khan. The lone blue belt is Fazul Hack.
