The Corriverton Cricket Club has made it through to the final of the Price is Right Supermarket Second Division Cricket Competition when they defeated No.71 Cricket Club by 124 runs in their semifinal game which was played Sunday March 16, 2014 at the No. 69 Red Rose ground. They will now take Number 70 M.Y.O in the final which is slated for Sunday 6th April 2014 at the Skeldon Community Centre ground.
The game, which was reduced to 45 overs per side due to overnight rain, saw Corriverton CC taking first strike and racing to 250 for 8 in their allotment of overs with No9 batsman Amzaan Appalsamy blasting and undefeated 97 not out which included nine towering sixes and four scorching fours. He was supported by Clavern Beresford 39 and Anthony Seeraj 25.
Bowling for No. 71, Glen Jaggernauth and Kampta Roopraj led the way with 3 wickets each. In reply No. 71 were bowled out for 126 with Soomdat Singh top scoring with 68 (4×4, 4×6) while Deoprakash Ramdat contributed 19.
Bowling for Corriverton, Faoud Bacchus with figures of 6 for 22 off 9 overs and Eric Phillips with 3 for 20 were the destroyers.
Amzaan Appalsamy with his blistering 97 was later named man of the match. (Samuel Whyte)
