National Senior Chess Champion, Wendell Meusa, amassed an impeccable nine points to cart off the spoils when the Guyana Chess Federation
Courts Blitz – Courts representative and representative of ECI Engineering (seated centre and right) celebrate with the winners upon conclusion of the tournament.
(GCF) in collaboration with Courts and ECI Engineering staged a one day Blitz tournament on the Main Street Avenue, opposite Courts, Saturday morning last.
More known for sterling performances in the longer version of the game, Meusa demonstrated similar propensities when he blasted away Anthony Drayton in the first game to relegate him to an eventual second place; Drayton finished on 8 points. Carlos Petterson amassed 6 points and closed off the podium spots, while Arnold Phang and Leslie Campbell both shared the cellar position after finishing on four points apiece.
Meanwhile, Saeed Ali scored six points to take the honours in the junior category, while Davion Mars and Christian Shivrattan sealed off the second and third positions respectively.
The presentation ceremony followed the conclusion of the tournament and President of the GCF, Irshad Mohamed expressed gratitude to Courts (Guyana) Ltd and ECI Engineering for the contribution to this tournament.
