Starting today, the moment of truth for the 16 surviving teams will be evident when the Milo/Petra Organisation Schools Football Competition continues today, at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue.
In the opening encounter, Dolphin will be depending on the pint-sized Job Caesar to lead them to victory over St. Mary’s who’ve showed tremendous improvement as the tournament has progressed.
They have a cadre of deadly strikers with Raphael Charles spearheading this group that also includes Colin Denny, Curtez Kellman and Lennox Cort.
The second game pits South Ruimveldt against Lodge and this clash has all the makings of an exciting matchup.
For Lodge, Jarel Grannum and Shamar Smith will be called upon to spearhead their quest for victory, while Kevin McPherson and Keith Caines are the leading marksmen for South Ruimveldt.
In the third game of the day, the in-form Queen’s College take on North Georgetown and even though the former will start as favourites, they should be warned not to underestimate their opponents.
Once again, Jayadev Mana, Ashmar Angel and Michael DaSilva will be tasked with the responsibility of ensuring that QC reaches the next round, while North Georgetown’s chances of creating an upset will rest on the shoulders of Joshua Perreira and Rueben Miller.
The final encounter of the day is between Charlestown and Kingston and this is a virtual final.
Charlestown’s Aroydy Branford and Omari James have been in terrific form and they should have a say in the outcome of the game, while Shawn Grovesnor, Vincent Thomas, Alistair Holder and Levi Williams have all shown deadly accuracy inside the penalty area.
One thing is sure there is no reprieve for any of the teams, this is the knockout phase and any mistake could be very costly.
Below is the day’s full fixtures:
11:00 hrs- Dolphin Secondary School versus St Mary’s High School
12:30 hrs- South Ruimveldt Secondary vs. Lodge Secondary School
14:00 hrs- Queen’s College vs. North Georgetown Secondary
